Recently I’ve noticed that my page views have dropped dramatically This is due to a new way posterous check things. They recently stated “Currently we’re counting all legitimate pageviews, just like Google Analytics does. Previously, we were counting every hit to our logs, most of which were search engine bots and crawlers and not an extremely accurate measure of actual pageviews. We’ve worked on this over the past few weeks and have deployed an update to correct this so that we display a more accurate measure of the number of pageviews on your site” I am not convinced this is a fair reflection, and believe they are not counting the crawlers such as twitter that dont pull in the whole site just the bits needed. I’d like to see a discussion here with meaningful comment on if I am right or wrong …
